The village of Mikonos, also known as Chora, is the capital and main port of the island. It is located in the center of the island, about 5 kilometers (3 miles) from the airport. The other main settlement is Ano Mera, which is located in the northeastern part of the island, about 8 kilometers (5 miles) from Chora.
