Hotel Thirasia, Santorini

Hotel Thirasia is a budget 1-star base in Santorini, Greece, suited to travellers who want an uncomplicated place to sleep while keeping most of their time for Fira’s streets and viewpoints. The hotel sits about 2 km from Fira, so you can reach the town, museums, and the Santorini Cable Car without needing a car, while still returning to a quieter pocket of the island. If you’re arriving by air, the transfer is typically short, which helps when you’re planning a tight itinerary.

Guests who have stayed at Hotel Thirasia commonly mention its no-frills, practical approach: you get a simple, comfortable stay rather than a resort-style experience. Solo explorers often like the easy access to Fira’s walking routes and the Archaeological Museum of Thera, while couples on a lean budget appreciate being close enough to enjoy evenings in town. Reviews also tend to highlight the friendly, welcoming atmosphere, where staff are described as approachable when travellers need local guidance.

In terms of nearby landmarks, the Archaeological Museum of Thera is roughly 2 km away, and the Santorini Cable Car station is also around 2 km, making it convenient for trips down to the Old Port. For a bigger day out, Profitis Ilias and its panoramic views are about 14 km from the hotel, and it’s a common add-on for travellers who want the island’s higher vantage points. Overall, Hotel Thirasia works best for visitors who prioritise location and flexibility over on-site comforts, and who are happy to spend their time exploring Santorini’s towns and sights.
