Should You Book Modern's Hotel?
Not worth booking for most travelers. With a 3.1/10 guest rating across 1,313 reviews, the risk of an underwhelming stay is high despite the convenient location near Gare de Lyon.
Best For
- Budget-conscious solo travelers who prioritize being close to Gare de Lyon for fast city access
- Families needing a straightforward base with children allowed and express check-in/check-out
- Pet owners who want a place that explicitly allows pets
- Travelers who value basic comfort like heating and WiFi plus luggage storage before check-in or after checkout
Not Ideal For
- Travelers who rely on consistently positive guest experiences, given the very low overall rating
- Anyone who needs on-site parking, since no parking is available
- Light sleepers or anyone sensitive to noise should be cautious, as the hotel’s proximity to a major station (Gare de Lyon) can increase disturbance risk
What to Expect
You’d likely arrive and quickly orient yourself because the hotel sits about a 0.2 km walk from Gare de Lyon, making check-in feel efficient with express check-in/check-out. The surrounding area is practical and transit-focused, and you can plan sightseeing by using nearby landmarks like Sainte-Chapelle (about 2.5 km) and Notre-Dame Cathedral (about 2.0 km) as walkable day goals. In the morning, you can start with WiFi and heating, then store luggage as needed around your schedule since checkout is at 11:00 AM. However, the very low guest rating suggests many stays may not meet expectations, so you should be prepared for potential service or comfort shortcomings reflected in the reviews.
Location Intelligence
Staying near Gare de Lyon (0.2 km) is the biggest advantage here, since it simplifies reaching and returning from Paris sights and onward travel. From the hotel you can target Notre-Dame Cathedral (2.0 km), Sainte-Chapelle (2.5 km), and the Louvre Museum (3.0 km) for a day of central sightseeing, while Versailles is farther at about 20 km. Orly is 14 km away and Charles de Gaulle is 25 km away, so airport transfers will be manageable but not the closest possible.
