Should You Book Hôtel de la Gare?
Not worth booking at this time. The guest rating is very low (4.9/10 from 134 reviews), which is a strong signal that the stay experience may not meet expectations despite the convenient location and basic amenities.
Best For
- Budget-conscious solo travelers who prioritize being near Musée de la Chaussure and the historic center on foot
- Families needing family rooms and daily housekeeping, with easy access to local sights
- Pet owners traveling with pets, since pets are allowed
- Travelers who value free WiFi and a simple base for day trips to the Massif du Vercors (about 10 km away)
Not Ideal For
- Travelers who rely on consistently positive reviews and service quality, given the 4.9/10 rating
- Light sleepers or anyone sensitive to noise, since the property is on a central place (Place Carnot) and the review score suggests potential issues
- Guests who want a more upscale or polished experience, as the available information and low rating don’t support that expectation
What to Expect
You arrive at 9 Place Carnot and quickly feel you’re in a walkable, central part of Romans-sur-Isère, with Musée de la Chaussure just 0.5 km away. Mornings start with a straightforward routine in non-smoking rooms, with heating available and daily housekeeping to keep things simple. You can step out to nearby landmarks like Église Saint-Barnard (0.8 km) and then plan a longer excursion toward the Massif du Vercors (about 10 km). However, the overall guest sentiment reflected in the 4.9/10 score suggests the day-to-day experience may fall short for many travelers.
Location Intelligence

For regional sightseeing, Massif du Vercors is about 10 km away, and you can also reach Cité du Chocolat in roughly the same distance range (10 km).
